Annika was born in Oldenburg, Germany, and began her musical education with recorder and piano lessons. At the age of 13, she began her flute studies with Andreas Evers and soon after had the opportunity to play with the Camerata Instrumentale, a symphony orchestra in Bremen. She was also a keen member of the flute quartet at the local music school and took part in several competitions in solo, ensemble and orchestra settings.

After having worked as an Occupational Therapist in a Rehab Centre for several years, Annika finally followed her dream to study music and moved to Scotland. During her studies at Edinburgh Napier University she enjoyed tuition from Andrea Kuypers and has had the opportunity to perform with the Edinburgh Napier Chamber Orchestra, the Flute Choir and the Contemporary Ensemble. She has taken part in master classes with Katherine Bryan, Sarah Newbold, Lis Dooner and Luisa Sello.

Alongside her studies towards the BMus degree, Annika has gained the ABRSM Performance Diploma and has been enjoying working as a private instrumental teacher with both adults and children.
